Sunday, January 13, 2013 12: Months of Heaven On Earth!!!

I could sit and watch Baby Kate ALL DAY!!!  After Christmas, she was diagnosed with a double ear infection which was easily treated with Amoxicillin...

Pat and I guestimate that by New Year's Baby Kate was walking about 90-95% of the time.  At this point, we noticed she was walking VERY bow legged...

She was once again diagnosed "perfect" at her well child check up...weighing in at 22 pounds 5 ounces which is 82%,  her height was 31 inches which is 95%, and her head circumference was 47 cm which is 92%.

I asked the pediatrician to have a Tough Love conversation with me as I was beyond exhaused...Baby Kate and I had gotten ourselves in an awful habit me jumping out of bed everytime she cried in the middle of the night and bringing her into bed with me...most of the time several times a night...which wouldn't be a problem if she fell right back asleep, but she wanted to play or have a bottle and I worried about falling out of bed...all of which wore both of us out...so the pediatrician prescribed "Three Nights Of Hell"...which really wasn't that bad...Pat was to put Baby Kate to bed and let her cry herself to sleep...I had been feeding her a bottle, with her falling asleep in my arms, then putting her in bed, which was causing her to wake up, not knowing where she was and scaring her...I slept in Lizzy and Mary Christine's room because I couldn't bear to hear her cry as we weren't supposed to get her up when she woke up in the middle of the night...By the third night, I was back in bed and life has been so much better...she does still cry out a couple times, but goes right back to sleep...most nights she sleeps from 9 pm until 7:15 am... so much better!!!

Pat usually gets up with her and feeds her breakfast in her high chair, then she goes back down for a morning nap around 10 am...then takes another nap or two in the afternoon depending on her mood...now that she is getting more sleep, she is so much happier...and so am I!!!

On January 13, Baby Kate is walking 100% of the time...she still gets her feet tangled up every now and again, and can usually stop and steady herself...only occassionally stumblinging then falling...she still loves to climb and is a bit hesitant when she senses she may be in danger, she notifies us by crying out...she also is much better about turing around and slowly lowering herself down so she doesn't fall when climbing off the chair, couch and hearth...

I have declared Baby Kate to be the family supervisor as she always seems to be watching what everyone is doing and will race from the family room to the kitchen to "supervise" the activity...often with her hands behind her back...

Baby Kate also devloped her own sign language, first recognized by her Daddy...she holds her hands, palms down, waist high and moves them back and forth very quickly as if to say..."No"...when she really means "NO" she moves her hands very firmly once from the middle outward...

She still loves geeting into the kitchen drawers and cleaning them out, much to my dismay...

I love watching her play and interact with her siblings!!!!  She is such a joy and blessing!!!

FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!!

I honestly couldn't believe Baby Kate turned ONE!!!  Her first year FLEW and I mean FLEW by!!!

I would guestimate Baby Kate was walking about 70-75% of the time...with crawling the rest...

We celebrated with a small celebration of just  the 10 of us...Just perfect!!!

First Christmas

I just LOVE Baby's 1st Christmas!!!  We had our traditional Christmas Eve Dinner and Present Opening with my side of the family...

Then Christmas Morning...

Thursday, December 20, 2012: We think...

Baby Kate is GREAT!!!

Pat and I were discussing how we think Baby Kate's desire and focus on climbing has slowed he walking progress...Baby Kate is mostly taking 3-5 steps at a time before "sitting down" but last night, she was really on the move taking many more than 12 steps in a semi circle to walk around a toy before sitting down...

Pat did share that he "saw with his own eyes", Baby Kate climb on top of one of the chairs in the family room last night...today, I took this photo of an unsuccessful attempt...

We feed her finger  food up to 3 times a day and are giving her whole milk in a sippy cup at meal times...

Baby Kate usually takes a mid to late morning nap and at a minimum a late afternoon nap...if she takes a mid morning nap, she make take two afternoon naps...it just depends on her mood...I usually feed her a bottle of formula or put her in "the swing of sleep" to help her fall asleep...a few times I have laid her down and she went to sleep, but usually she cries and breaks my heart...she makes this really sad, sad face and I can't take it...

Baby Kate is still waking up at least one time a night for a 6 ounce bottle of formula, after being fed an 8 ounce bottle in my arms as she falls asleep before going to bed...I wish she was still interested in nursing, but has turned her face away for a couple of months now...

Wednesday, December 12, 2012: First Words!!!

First Words!!!

Last week my mom was over visiting the babies, as she calls our 3 Little Girls...she sneaks over at least one morning a week...just to visit...not me, but them and I LOVE IT!!!!

It was so funny, Kate and my mom had matching hairdos- the blonde hair on the sides of their heads was "winging" out, so to speak...Mom blamed the humidity...

The weather was warm and beautiful so Mom suggested we hang out on the front porch...we could hear a Fire Truck's sirens coming down the street and Anna proudly says, "Fire Truck", then Sarah says it and both Mom and I discuss the fire truck as it is getting closer...Baby Kate was sitting on Mom's lap and clear as a bell, she says, "Fire Truck"...Mom and I looked at each other- in complete disbelief and confirmed the other one heard Kate say, "Fire Truck"...

On Saturday night, I was taking the usual "Chair Photo" of Kate and as soon as I placed her in the chair and grabbed the camera, she started grinning and saying "Eeeeese" for "Cheese" which is what her siblings say to her to get her to smile for pictures...

Then Sunday morning, Kate was swinging in her chair and Pat walked into the room...Kate says, "Hi Dad" very matter of factly...I immediately asked Lizzy and Pat, both of whom were in the room, what Kate said and they both said, "Hi Dad"...If I hadn't heard it myself and had both of them confirm it, I never would have believed it...

Baby Kate has "officially" been deemed a Genius by her maternal grandmother!!!

11 Months: Beyond Amazing!!!

Baby Kate races on hands and knees to climb the steps when the gate is accidentally left open...

Climbs up the brick hearth and into the window faster than the speed on lightening, only to turn around and grin as she knows she's not supposed to do this...

Figured out how to open the bathroom door...

Is getting two MORE teeth on the top...

Practices balancing while standing and takes a couple of steps...

Climbs on everything she can...

Loves to move to the music whenever she hears it...
